Okay- so this may not be the most glamorous news going, but we are in the process of installing new heat pump hot water systems- chosen for their incredible energy efficiency and service delivery. Hot water is instantaneous, so no more waiting for minutes while litres go down the drain for the hot water to get to temperature. The cylinders are pretty big, so no worries about running out of hot water. And the heat pumps only run when the temperature drops down or water is used, saving on energy costss and costs to the planet!
Summer brings the start of our new summer menu. We have moved to a table d'hote menu option, with a choice of either 2 or 3 course meal, based around local produce from the area. Aaron has been dying to offer up an ocean trout on a citrus salad, the flavours of summer pop on the plate of this beautiful menu choice. Make sure you book folks, as we want to make sure there's enough food to go around!
We are finally setting up a proper blog and updating it regularly with the happenings here at the waterfront. If it turns out to be really funny, I hold all the copyright to turn it into a sitcom one day! For now- here is my first effort

Several members of the newly established Food Connections group enjoyed a 7 course degustation menu featuring local Tassie produce at its best. Our chefs have been beavering away for several weeks now perfecting the menu, witha focus on presenting each featured item three different ways. FOr a copy of the menu and some pics- check out the functions page.
We were delighted to receive the news that we had been selected as a finalist in the Best Places to Stay awards for motels in Tasmania. These nominations are based solely on customer feedback for our property, so it would appear our customers think we're a bit of alright! Stay tuned for the results at the end of this month!
As I type this, Justin is feverishly swapping and installing brand new digital TVs into the rooms. The new televisions will be able to receive all the digital channels available, plus our in house AUSTAR cable television channels, and our new motel information channel. Don't say we don't do anything for you! Anyone want to buy a regular TV-going cheap!?
We were pleased to be able to have the state parliamentary team stopping with us for the night whilst on business in Wynyard.
In celebration of their visit we prepared a menu for Sunday night's dinner that showcased the best of Tassie local produce.
Unfortunately the Premier, David Bartlett, "forgot" his wallet, and couldn't pay for the meal. So we said- no problem, we have a stack of dishes that need doing and that would more than cover it. Don't believe me? Here's the proof.....

No Premier...we really are serious, we want those dishes doing....not a laughing matter!
Actually- the Premier is pictured with our chef Aaron, Dylan our apprentice chef and Renae our work experience student. He very graciously agreed to have a photo with the team.
We were delighted to receive the news that we had won the
people's choice award for the September quarter for 2008.
This award is based solely on customer feedback on our property,
service and facilities from customer's who fill out survey forms
provided as part of our quality assurance program and submitted
to Tourism Tasmania via mail. They also have the opportunity to
nominate us for an award if they think we have earned it.
We have been participating in the green tick program since we
have been here- 2003, and it's the first time we have been
awarded a people's choice award, so we are thrilled. We are now
in the running for the overall people's choice award for 2009.
2009 see the start of construction of 8 townhouses on
the current Site of The Waterfront Wynyard.
